How can I make my orchid flower again?

I keep buying orchids but I never seem to be able to get them to flower again. so I just end up with loads of what looks like sticks in pots which gather dust and then I end up chucking them in the bin! Any tips????

How can I make my orchid flower again?
Orchids grow at a very slow rate, and the production of flowers is extremely taxing on the plant, it takes a lot of energy for the plant to produce the flower, which contains the reproductive organs for the plant.

I suggest that you use orchid food and let time take its course.
Reply:My mother has a huge collection of sticks in pots, and pretty much they bloom once a year. o.k. maybe they look more like sticks in pots with a few non-descript leaves, but same thing.
