my roomate says it's some kind if voodoo thing. help!
What does it mean to have coins around a flower pot?
I've heard of planting coins with a new plant to "grow" your desire (wealth, love, etc...). As the seeds sprout and grow, so does your wealth, or whatever. I wouldn't worry about it... it sounds harmless.
Reply:Coins in or around a flower pot, house, or outdoor plant are all forms of folk magic. All the suggestions given are very good. It is not Vodou. Most people dont understand but Vodou is a religion and not black, evil, or dark magic. If you have coins around a pot then consider that a good thing. If you still don't like it then move them, simple as that!
Reply:I put silver coins around trees and plants to draw the protection of my Goddess to my plants. It is a spiritual thing for me.
Reply:Coins are often used for protection......we place copper coins at points around the outside of the house to ward off negative energy.
Reply:Copper pennies are often placed around plants to deter slugs from eating the leaves and tender shoots.
Slugs hate copper for some reason.
Reply:Why don't you ask your roommate about it?
Coins in or around potted plants can mean quite a few things. The first thing that comes to my mind is financial security. Planting copper coins in the bottom of a healthy seedling (and making sure the plant always stays healthy) can help out with financial problems.
